'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' is a "metafictional" and semi-autobiographical novel written in 2007 by Pakistani-American author Mohsin Hamid. The novel follows the life of Changez, a Pakistani-born gifted student at Princeton University, as he settles in the US in order to work for a consultancy firm as a financial analyst, mainly during the aftermath of 9/11. The novel deals heavily with time-period specific matters, such as the struggle of self identity, blood bounds and the main character's inner conflict between his Pakistani upbringing and his current life as an American man in New York.
