A beautiful young woman diagnosed with leukemia, Lam (Kelly Chan) falls for Ted (Michael Wong), a sailor from Scotland, but the two separate when she isn't willing to return with him to his homeland. Later, Lam meets the oddly named Mr. Worm (Takeshi Kaneshiro), who runs a company specializing in unusual investigations, and she decides to enlist his help in tracking Ted down.
