Algiers, 1990s. Nedjma, 18, a student living in the university city, dreams of becoming a stylist. At nightfall, she slips through the meshes of the fence of the Cité with her best friends to reach the nightclub where she sells her creations to the "papichas", pretty young girls from Algiers. The political and social situation in the country continues to deteriorate. Refusing this fatality, Nedjma decides to fight for her freedom by organizing a fashion show, thus defying all prohibitions.
