The MBTI is a popular self-assessment questionnaire in which people can determine their Myers-Briggs Personality Type, also known as "preference". The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a major instrument in the field of psychological assessment, and is used in organizations such as the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the National Association of Social Workers.
The MBTI was developed by Katherine (Kay) Erichsen and Isabel Briggs Myers in the 1940s and has been the most widely used of the MBTI models.
The MBTI assessment is based on Jungian psychological theory, and consists of a set of statements that reflect dominant preferences in each of the four dichotomous dimensions of personality: sensing (S), intuition (N), thinking (T), and intuition (N). People who prefer the same letter get the same score on that dimension.
