He’s right, it’s not the best actor in the world, but he is one of the best actors working today and I think that he’s a great choice for the role.
Other actors have taken on roles which originate from an ethnic background before, but none have really done it well. Michael Gambon, for example, did a wonderful job playing an Irishman in his role as Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies. However, he did not play a real person. Tom Hanks did a good job portraying an Italian American in Big, but there was nothing particularly Italian about the character.
