Maybe he’s not as smart as everyone thinks (he’s basically a genius), but he’s definitely intelligent. I think that’s why he’s such a great villain. His intellect gives him the ability to plot and scheme, and he’s also able to think of ways to improve his own power, but in the end, he doesn’t really care about anyone else — he’s only concerned with himself.
He’s also very strong-willed, which is why he’s so dangerous because he doesn’t back down from a challenge. A lot of villains are cowardly or at least have some kind of weakness, but Thanos doesn’t care about anything but himself. He’s a very intimidating villain because of that.
