In several interviews, Goodspeed has spoken about how she has overcome her autism and how she has managed to feel self-conscious about her appearance at times. When she was in school, she used to keep her hair in a bun in order to hide the fact that she had autism and she would take it down when she was in front of others.
She also struggled with being around other people as she felt uncomfortable and unable to connect with them. One of her early jobs was working as a waitress in an Italian restaurant. Even though the job paid well, she knew that she would be dismissed from working there if it was found out that she had autism.
