Alfalfa personality type is INFP, but if you look at his writings you'll see that he's got an ENFP personality type. Not that that's a bad thing, don't get me wrong, but instead of his personality being more "F" or "N" it's actually more "P". He's got a lot of extraverted feeling too, which means he's likely to talk about himself a lot.
I can understand where people are coming from, though. When it comes to personality type, people are very opinionated about their own personality type. It's really just arbitrary really, because there's no way to know for sure what your personality type is. I'm also not saying that personality types are not important, because they are. Personality types are actually fairly important. Personality types are the starting point for understanding other people, and personality types are important in finding jobs that suit you. I think personality types are very valuable in understanding other people, but I think they are also fairly irrelevant when it comes to understanding anime characters.
I really do think there is something interesting about personality types though, because there are so many different personality types.
