They are curious, logical, quick to see possibilities and independent. ISTPs are sometimes perceived as cool, calm and collected, but once they have made up their minds, they are very determined. This is because they are driven to follow through with their thoughts and ideas and they are not likely to be dissuaded by external conditions. They like to be alone and they will withdraw from others when they feel they need to process a situation alone. ISTPs often want to be alone but they may enjoy the company of a close friend or their favorite book.
Eventually, ISTP types may become more extroverted, especially if the type does not get enough stimulation or is not challenged. They can become very talkative when they are interested in something and that is usually what interests them.
ISTPs can become timid when they feel too exposed or embarrassed. They can become overly self-conscious and may even be afraid of public speaking or being in the spotlight. When this happens, ISTPs may become withdrawn or may withdraw from a relationship which has been too much of a strain on their personality.
