Haruto started the manga as a hot-headed and impulsive high school student. His personality was not really consistent in the early chapters. He is shown to be very angry and impulsive, sometimes to the point of recklessness. However, as time goes on, he becomes more mature and calm. He is shown to be very friendly with his friends (especially with Tohru), as he is easily able to trust people. Although he is a capable fighter, he is not really a fighting fanatic, as he takes fighting seriously only when fighting someone that he cares for. His fighting style is a mix of boxing and Muay Thai, but he has a tendency to use a lot of kicks and punches, especially when fighting against the likes of Akito.
In the drama CD series, it is revealed that he got his name from a teacher who was utterly convinced of his ability. In the first few chapters of the manga, Haruto was very close friends with Kanae until he decided to leave for Tokyo after their first year of high school. After going to Tokyo, Haruto met Kanae again and he became friends with her again.
Haruto Kurosaki, aka "The Black Prince," is the male lead in the shojo manga "Defying Kurosaki-kun." Despite having a complicated past, Kurosaki is known as Takumi Shirakawa's childhood friend.
