Shelby personality type is ISFP, but because of the constant pressure of his parents to be perfect, he acted more like an ENTP. He was always trying to solve the problem, which got him into trouble, but he was so overwhelmed by his discovery, he forgot about the rules. He was so excited to know the truth, he didn't care who it hurt. He was always willing to do the hard work that no one else wanted to do. He was willing to do anything for his family.
He didn't know how to handle the guilt, it was overwhelming even for an ISFP. He knew he was not acting like an ISFP, but he didn't know how to act like himself. He felt like he was betraying his parents by being himself. When he finally broke down and told them what he had done, they were shocked. And to make matters worse, he realized he had betrayed his best friend as well. He had no idea how to fix it. They told him they would support his decision, but they wanted him to change. He couldn't do that. He had made the choice.
It's hard for us to understand how one person can do something so terrible and then change so quickly.
