Gil personality type is INFP, and he’s the most INFP person I know (the INFP in question being me, of course). He’s shy and patient, and he never shuts up.
He’s also an extreme introvert. He can’t stand being around people; he’d rather be alone. And he has a hard time getting over his shyness. He’ll read books on social skills and then say, “See? I can’t do it!” But he’s deeply sensitive, and he needs to connect with other people.
There was a moment when I was experimenting with the idea that maybe I didn’t have to be an extrovert. I was testing the idea that it might be possible to have a healthy, happy introversion.
I thought about it for a year, and then I decided it was a bad idea.
I don’t know if it was a bad idea for me, but it was a bad idea for him.
So I went back to my default personality type and got out of the introvert-extrovert debate.
