    Francis Herbert Bradley, born on January 30, 1846 in Clapham (Surrey) and died in Oxford on September 18, 1924, was a British philosopher. He is, with Bernard Bosanquet and Josiah Royce, the main representative of British idealism. He is known, among other things, for his controversy with Russell over the status of relations.

    As a student of T.H. Green, Bradley was appointed to Merton College, Oxford, where he devoted himself to research. In accordance with the terms of his appointment, he did not marry or teach. He is known for his depth and authoritative nature. He is said to have suffered from chronic health problems, including poor hearing.
