My word is “fear”. I think fear is a natural human emotion. When you are afraid of something, your body prepares itself to do something about it. We all have some natural fear in life, but what I am talking about here is an excessive fear for something or someone. Fear can be the result of overstimulation, overthinking, or whatever reason. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum, and you will become a Fearful Person. It is really easy to get hooked to this behavior. Fear makes you think you are right and others are wrong. It makes you take risks that you don’t want to take.
The strategy behind this behavior is that we humans tend to look at the bad thing in an effort to “save” ourselves from the bad thing. If we think we can save ourselves from something by avoiding it, we will. If we think we can save ourselves from something by doing something else, we will do that too.
Plotinus (204 AD- 270 AD) was a major Hellenistic philosopher who lived in Roman Egypt. In his philosophy, described in the Enneads, there are three principles: the One, the Intellect, and the Soul. His teacher was Ammonius Saccas, who was of the Platonic tradition.
