I like to think of ISTJs as “Cold” (in the sense of not giving a fuck), because they tend to be very reserved and somewhat “offended” by other people’s fussiness.
While they are empathetic and caring, they don’t like to be bothered with trivial matters. They tend to be very focused on the things that are important, and this means that they tend to be perfectionists.
They are also built on built on solid foundations of logic and rationality, which means that they are unlikely to get plain wrong on something that is important to them.
For example, if an ISTJ says “never”, they mean it. This makes them so logical and so skeptical that they are often accused of being stubborn or inflexible.
However, this need for rules and adherence to rules also makes them so confident in their beliefs that they will rarely need to compromise on their values. They just know what is right, and they won’t budge for anyone!
