In the early 1800s, a man named Carl Jung (pronounced ‘Yung’) was in the process of developing his theories on the human mind. He was in Zurich, Switzerland, which is a pretty cool place to be, and he began working with patients. He was a psychiatrist, and he started seeing patients who had issues of all kinds. They came from all walks of life, and they had these very interesting, unusual stories to tell.
Jung was intrigued by these stories, and he started to study them. He did a lot of analysis on them and came up with a theory based on his analysis of these people that would eventually become known as the theory of the collective unconscious. This theory has been a big deal in psychology for the past hundred years or so.
What Jung’s theory does is that it says that the human mind has an energy that is not individual, but rather collective.
