Op personality type is ENFP, and he is sometimes referred to as the “goofball”. Personally, I consider this a bit of a misnomer. I believe that ENFPs are often far from goofy, and their personalities can be quite serious and thoughtful. However, I do believe that ENFPs can be quite goofy, especially if they are not given the proper tools for expressing their inner goofiness.
Some ENFPs are happy to just let people assume that they are goofy, and not to worry about it. However, for some, this is not enough. ENFPs tend to get very annoyed when others do not treat them with the respect and understanding that they deserve. They want others to see them as an equal, to take them as seriously as they take themselves. If people dismiss them as being too goofy (even if they are not), they will feel like they are not being taken seriously, and they will grow frustrated.
Think of the ENFP who is told by his boss that he needs to work harder, because he is not making enough of an impact on the company. He thinks that his boss is being unfair, since he is a really hard worker and is actually really good at what he does.
