The correlations between the various personality types and academic achievement are all positive, with one exception: the correlations between the Extraversion personality type and SAT scores are negative. This is not surprising, since extraverts tend to be more impulsive and less organized than introverts. Since academic achievement is largely a function of organization and discipline, this result is consistent with the hypothesis that extraverts have lower SAT scores than introverts. In other words, extraverts would be expected to have lower SAT scores, but not because they are less intelligent than introverts, but because they lack the necessary discipline and organization to excel in school.
The correlations between intelligence and achievement are also positive, but are statistically significant only for the females.
