Though she discovered her type, West, who lives in Eugene, Ore., doubted the accuracy of the test. She found it “hard to believe that one’s personality type can be identified by a single number,” she said. “It seemed like the sort of thing you’d see in an article about astrology or tarot cards.”
But that changed after she took the Myers-Briggs test again the following year. A friend told her he had heard Myers-Briggs was real and had taken the test. West felt compelled to investigate.
Since then, she’s taken the test four more times, each time with different results. She still doesn’t believe it’s real, “but I was curious about how it measured up to my own experiences of introversion, sensing, feeling and intuition.”
So West decided to create her own version of the Myers-Briggs test.
