Dylan Merchant personality type is ENTP, the type most likely to be afflicted with ADD. I am incredibly fond of ENTPs, because they are smart, curious, witty, creative, playful, and always open to new ideas. They are great at what they do, in their field of interest. They are in the upper middle class of society, in possession of a degree of intelligence that makes them in demand in their field, and they are financially successful. Both of these characteristics are things that I happen to admire about myself.
I have never seen this pattern in my own family, but I have seen it in countless other people’s families. It is also true that my mother is an ENTP. She is also very intelligent, creative, witty, open to new ideas, and financially successful.
So when I came across this article on the NY Times site about how important it is to know your type, I saw it as no more than an interesting article about someone else’s life. I sat down to read it, and that was when I was hit with this revelation:
