I was a child of a Chinese father and a Malaysian mother, both English-educated. I grew up in Singapore until I was about six, then moved to Kuala Lumpur. I lived in Malaysia until I was about 15, then moved to Seattle, Washington, to finish high school. In high school, I was a quiet kid. In my entire life, I have never been a particularly talkative person.
During my early 20s, I worked as a journalist in Malaysia. Then I moved to New York City and worked as a journalist for a few years. Eventually, I started a career as a software consultant, and I’ve been working in the field ever since.
As an ISTJ, I am very disciplined and organized. People who know me describe me as someone who is always prepared and can be relied on, which sounds like a good thing, but it can sometimes cause problems. When things change at work, I don’t like just standing by and waiting for new information to come in. Instead, I like to get involved and start taking action.
I sometimes don’t realize that other people’s feelings and concerns might be different from mine.
