This test is based on Carl Jung’s writings and has been in use for over 60 years. The MBTI is one of the most popular choices for personality tests because it is easy to use, and it can be administered by anyone, including a computer.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is based on four pairs of preferences: Introversion/Extroversion, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving. These four pairs are called dichotomies and are used to sort people into one of 16 different personality types. There are four separate types and each one is opposite of the other. Each type has four letters and the first letter of each pair represents the first preference in the pair. So Introversion is first in the pair with Extroversion and vice versa. The second letter indicates the second preference in the pair.
