DBSK's Hyunji (born Hyun Ji Yoon) was diagnosed with the rare liver disease acute liver failure. In June 2012, Hyunji was rushed to the emergency room at a hospital in Seoul, South Korea, where she was diagnosed with the life-threatening condition and immediately sent to a transplant hospital.
The group, who were on hiatus at the time, had planned to hold a concert to raise funds for their beloved member. However, the concert was canceled after Hyunji's diagnosis was revealed.
In an interview with the press, Hyunji expressed her sadness over her diagnosis. "I am sad that I have become a burden to my parents and family," Hyunji said. "I am sad that I could've become the mother of my children in the future."
She also apologized to fans who supported her and DBSK throughout their career and thanked them for their love and support.
