That's why Roberto was drawn to the military.
"When I was little, I liked the idea of being a fighter," he said. "I like being challenged."
He also likes being a team player.
"When you're on a team, you have to bring in your own strengths, and you have to work together," he said. "It's like a puzzle. You have to do your own part, and then you have to work together."
His mother said Roberto's young life is filled with challenges.
"He doesn't like to do most of the things that most kids do," said his mother, Yolanda. "He doesn't like to play with toys or ride bikes or anything like that."
Instead, it's Roberto's ability to see the big picture that sets him apart. It's what enabled him to join the Military Police Corps.
