I understand that, as a teacher and therapist, you have probably had other ISTP students. How do you think ISTPs look to you?
As a high school teacher, I’ve noticed that my ISTP students have a great deal of confidence in themselves and are very independent. They are very good at taking initiative and getting work done, but often seem to be stuck on a project or in the middle of something that they never seem to finish. They often find themselves in interesting situations and are very good at coming up with their own ideas and thinking their way out of situations. They are very creative and very unique individuals, which is what makes them such a joy to teach.
As a therapist, I see ISTPs as being very good at self-reflection and taking responsibility for what they have done and what they are doing. They can be very good at being objective and seeing the big picture when it comes to themselves and others. They often seem to be very good at seeing the potential in people, but sometimes have a hard time seeing the potential in themselves.
