    She was the eldest of three children. Her family moved to Madrid in 1854 because of her father’s business interests.

    Luisa studied at a convent school until the age of 13, when she was sent to Spain’s Royal School of Nobility in Zaragoza.

    She became a devout Catholic and a great admirer of the Catholic Church. She also became a great fan of Napoleon.

    When she was 16, Luisa’s father died. She was sent to live with her aunt in Zaragoza, but after two years she moved to Madrid—where she lived for the rest of her life.
