Ishida Mitsunari was a Japanese samurai and the father of seppuku, or ritual suicide. He was also a prolific painter who, like many other artistic geniuses, killed himself after achieving success. He is most famous for his painting of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, which is still considered a masterpiece of Japanese art. He also led the defense of Osaka Castle against an attack by Takeda Shingen in 1575.

Ishida Mitsunari was a Japanese samurai and military commander of the late Sengoku period of Japan. He is also known by his court title, Jibu-no-shō.
