When did you first start reading manga? Did you always see yourself as an artist?
I first started reading manga when I was in elementary school. I read The Legend of Zelda manga, which is a really well-known series in Korea. When I was in middle school, I read Kiriko and Hana by Tetsuro Kasai. Those were my first experience with manga, and they’re still my favorites.
Unlike other people who start reading manga to get ideas for their own work, I started reading manga to get inspiration for my own writing. I always write about the same things—action, adventure, fantasy—but it’s always interesting how different creators interpret those themes differently. That’s what I like about manga.
The Japanese characters in your works aren’t the typical Japanese characters. Why did you choose to add them to your works?
