He made his feature film directorial debut with the romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer (2009), and went on to direct 2012 Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, and its 2014 sequel. He has also directed the drama films Gifted and The Only Living Boy in New York (both 2017).
