I was fascinated by the possibility of seeing patterns, and relating to patterns in my life. I was fascinated by how much I could learn about people (and why they do what they do) if I understood their underlying motivations.
And then I got frustrated.
I started getting frustrated with myself because I couldn’t seem to get my head around these patterns, these ideas, these theories. When I tried to work out what these theories meant in my own life, it got confusing. The more successful I became at understanding how others worked, the more frustrated I became at my own inability to understand myself.
