In contrast to the Thinking side, which typically requires a logical approach to problem-solving, the Judging side is more likely to rely on personal experience as a guide.
What makes ISTJs so difficult to understand is that the Judging side of the personality type seems to be totally against logic and rational thinking. Yet, ISTJs are only following the rules they have been taught. They are not thinking outside the box. They think that if they do not understand something, it must be wrong.
This is a difficult dichotomy to comprehend because it does not fit into our logical worldview. In fact, it may make us feel frustrated and angry because we feel like we are unable to see the forest for the trees.
In this article, I will attempt to make the ISTJ personality type a little more understandable. It takes a lot of work to understand how their thinking works, but I believe it is well worth it.
