The actor, who is a self-confessed “huge nerd”, has been a fan of the franchise since the movie was released in 1977.
He grew up in a household where his dad would play the music from the original Star Wars soundtrack in the background when he was growing up.
He said: “I’m a huge fan of Star Wars. I’ve been a fan of it since I was a kid.
“I used to own the complete collection of Star Wars movies.”
But despite his love of the movies, he believes there is one element that has been a weak link in the franchise: the characters.
He said: “It’s kinda hard to get into a movie when you’re not connected to the story.
“I think that problem has been going on for a long time. The dialogue has been getting better and better but it’s still not where it needs to be.”
