She then moved to Dublin and moved in with her current boyfriend, David Rawsthorne, who was one of her university professors. They subsequently got engaged and married on 31 August 2010.

In May 2017, it was reported that Collins would be starring in a Netflix drama series titled "Vincent & Theo" written by Peter Nelson. The series was shot in Limerick and starred Aaron Johnson and Elle Fanning. It was released on 17 June 2018.
