He and Kane had an almost identical gimmick in WCW as the “Ugly” and “Beautiful” duo, a tag team wrestling style that favored individuals that were both good looking, but different. This worked in the early 90s when extreme sports were still a big deal, however in 1999 Kane was arguably past his prime, and had been out of the ring for several years due to the injuries that came from his time with the Undertaker. One would imagine, then, that a smart young wrestler like Bischoff would be smart enough to realize that Kane had nothing left to offer the wrestling world, and that his reign as WCW champion was over.
Yet Bischoff and WCW simply would not let Kane go. He was released and re-hired again and again, despite being nothing more than an old, out-of-shape wrestler who couldn’t move up and down a ladder without falling down on his face.
