I've had these thoughts before, but when I was a teenager I thought that I was a damaged child who couldn't ever be loved; a child that had no value in the world. And in the beginning of my twenties, I thought that I would be in a relationship with a man like my father. I didn't think that he'd be as abusive as my mother, but I did feel that he would be distant and not talk to me. So when my first serious relationship ended, I thought that was what all relationships were like.
But the second time, it was different. My second serious relationship was with someone who loved me. He told me that he loved me more than anyone else he had ever met.
