Listen. ISTPs are usually the last ones to know what's going on in a conversation. Listen to them. When they're talking about something, be there to hear it all the way through to the end. When they're not talking, be present in their presence. ISTPs will often go into a zone in a conversation where they just think and think and think and think and think and think and think and think... and if you're not listening, they'll get very frustrated with you.
Be there when they need you. If an ISTP thinks they need to talk about something, they'll usually come to you because it's easier for them to talk to you than anyone else. Just be there when they need you, and they'll come to you.
