Shin Reglia personality type is ENTP, not INTJ.
I think Rei is a very good example of someone who's been mistyped. He was originally typed as INTJ, but that's not what he is.
I think that the "series" of which Rei is a part (Rei Ayanami, NERV, and Shinji Ikari) is not complete without two more characters: Rei's mother, Yui, and Shinji's father, Gendo. The two of them are the final pieces of Shinji Ikari's personality.
It's an interesting theory, and I think it's well-thought out, but I'm going to have to disagree.
First, let me explain why I think Ayanami Rei is INTJ.
The first piece of evidence is simply that she's the only one of the three who has much in common with Shinji. She's not like him in any way, and there's no reason to believe she's like him at all. The fact that she knows the most about him makes her different from him, but it doesn't make her like him, nor does it make her a good indicator of his traits.
