I’ve spent the last few months investigating the psychology of Myers Briggs, and thinking about how to apply it to my life. I think it’s a pretty good system, but I’ve also noticed that it doesn’t fit everyone. For example, I’ve come up with types that don’t exist. I thought about it for a long time, thinking that there must be some psychological process that determines one’s type that can’t be measured on an LP, but it turns out that finding that process turned out to be impossible for me.
The first major discovery was the fact that I don’t think I’m an INTJ. This came as a surprise to me, but I’ve always had trouble understanding people who are very literal-minded. I can see how an INTJ might be very precise in their thinking—perhaps they are very good at math—but I don’t see how their ability to understand abstract concepts could be the result of any kind of special training. I’ve always had difficulty understanding people who are very logical.
