Darya was an only child, and thus, had no siblings. However, she did have a nanny, who was an orphaned girl named Anna. Anna had previously worked for the family until they had to move to St. Petersburg for business reasons. She thus moved with them, and stayed with them for many years, until Darya was old enough to take care of herself.
Growing up, Darya enjoyed an incredibly privileged life. She was raised with servants, private tutors, and attending the best private schools. However, her life was not that of an ordinary child. At the age of 6, she was given a puppy, who she named Kitty.
