"To me it was a personal growth thing," explained Mirror. "The whole year leading up to the surgery, I was really feeling like I had to do this for me, and I didn't want to do it for anyone else. But when I got to the point where I was going to have it done, I realized that I wasn't going to do it for me anymore. I realized that it was something that I needed to do for the people around me."
"I felt like part of my identity was being lost because I am transgender and people in my life are expecting me to be this way," said Mirror. "I needed to take ownership of my body and be able to do what I feel like doing."
She found out about MTF surgeries from a friend who was on hormone therapy and was looking into MTF surgeries. "It was a really easy decision for me to be able to go through with it," said Mirror.
