In this episode, Kenta is introduced as a high schooler who loves the anime Macross and cosplays as his favorite character, Alto Saotome. Kenta was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, got his first manga from his uncle, and loves anime and games. In the beginning, he’s alone in his room, playing an online game during the school break.
After sharing a laughing moment with his classmate Shizuka, Kenta plays Alto Saotome for the first time. Simultaneously, the episode shows the game on Kenta’s desktop and the game on Shizuka’s laptop. Later on, Shizuka gets the game out of her bag and plays it.
This is actually the first time that I’ve seen a mobile game used in an anime or manga. It was interesting because both Kenta and Shizuka are naturally drawn with the same hair style (top part is longer), so it was hard to tell which character was which.
