Mitsuko personality type is ISTJ, which is a known as a "Sage" or "The Protector" (see: ISTJ for more details). This is interesting because of the fact that she's not a very "talkative" character and is more of a "doer."
Utena is very much the opposite of her personality type. In the conversation with her mother, she reveals that the reason why she wants to be a prince is that she wants to live out her life as a prince. She wants to "become" a prince, and she's not at all interested in the actual concept of royalty. When Utena is asked about her dream, she says that she wants to become a prince because it would let her live out her own destiny. This is very interesting. Utena's ideal self is a "prince," but she's not interested in being a prince for its own sake. She can live out her life as Utena, but if she could become something else, she'd be happy with that.
