Setting out on a quest to find the best Sherlock Holmes stories I can find, I come across this piece from American journalist and historian, Edward Dolnick. He has written books on Mark Twain, Jane Austen and Willa Cather and has written for USA Today, the New York Times, The Independent and the New York Review of Books.
In his new book, Dolnick explores the life and legacy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the famous detective. His work reminded me of a blog post by Steven Seagal that describes the importance of good storytelling. And it also reminded me of this blog post by Clarkesworld editor, Ken Liu.
After reading the Sherlock Holmes story, My Study in Scarlet, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I came across this narrative poem that describes the characters in a wonderful way. It’s called Dr Watson’s Last Case.
I’m pretty sure this is one of the most famous Sherlock Holmes stories ever written. It’s about a young man who finds a book that has some fantastic illustrations in it.
