    Dominant Function: Introverted Sensing

The Introverted Sensing function is the first function that we will examine. The Introverted Sensing function is the one that “gives life” to the Judging personality type. The Introverted Sensing function provides the ability to take in sensory information and store it for future use. It can also cause us to feel and respond to environmental stimulus in a relatively passive manner.

If you want to know what this means, ask any ESTP: they will tell you that they do not like to be controlled and told what to do and say and think. They will also tell you that they prefer to do things on their own terms and in their own time. ISTJs tend to feel this way, too. In fact, ISTJs are often quite proud of their independence and dislike being told what to do or when to do it.
