Kovacs personality type is INTP, and it is the most common personality type for those who have experienced sexual abuse as children. The INTP has a "distorted sense of self and a tendency to idealize self and other(s) and to be overly subjective and independent."
It should be noted that I am not saying that all INTPs have been sexually abused, nor am I saying that all sexual abuse victims are INTPs. I am simply pointing out that there is a strong correlation between the two.
The reason for this is because the INTP's initial reaction to sexual abuse is to idealize the abuser and minimize the abuse. This is because the INTP's first instinct is to make sense of the world, and sexual abuse violates the INTP's sense of reason and logic. Additionally, the INTP's first instinct is to protect their natural openness and spontaneity. This means that the INTP will not only minimise the abuse, but will also try to keep it secret.
The result of this is that sexual abuse victims are often left with serious trust issues, especially when they are dealing with their abusers.
