The player's profile on the US National Soccer Hall of Fame states: "Vardy was born in the north of England and began his youth career with non-league Chadderton Ramblers.
"He had trials with Partick Thistle and Sheffield Wednesday before signing for Fleetwood Town in 2004. Vardy's progress was rewarded at the beginning of the 2005/06 season and he was sent on loan to Fleetwood and Huddersfield Town.
