And he's been able to create music that gets under your skin, whether it's from his early recordings as a young man with his goth band The Blackout, or from his more recent recordings as a solo artist.
And he's been able to do this without being a traditional rock star.
I've known Iero for a while now – I first met him back in 2001 or 2002 – but I first became aware of his music when I saw the video for "Liar" on MTV a few days after it was released in 2005.
