Katsuragi is a small village in the countryside of Japan. His mother died when he was young, leaving him with his older brother, Ryoma. Due to their similar hair color, they were mistaken for twins. His mother's death is what drove his brother to become an international soccer player. He was raised by his father, who was a farmer.
When he was in middle school, Katsuragi began playing soccer with his brother. They often played with their friends in the fields near the village, and it wasn't until they entered high school that they played competitively. When he entered high school, he was scouted by FC Barcelona, but he went to the U-18s instead.
Afterward, he entered high school and played for the same team with Ryoma. The two were known collectively as the brothers of the soccer club, but the two had very different personalities. While Ryoma would show leadership and passion, Katsuragi would be more laid back and somewhat apathetic. He was fairly popular among his fellow students though.
