One of the most interesting things about Japanese personality types is the fact that not every Japanese person fits into one of the four types. For example, while most Japanese people are ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging), some are ESFJ (Extroverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging). That’s why it’s important for you to get to know what your type is and how it might inform your personality.
Let’s be clear: though it’s not uncommon for Japanese-Americans to be mistaken for Japanese, it’s important to remember that these are distinct cultures. And while it’s not rare for Japanese-Americans to adopt aspects of their respective culture, you shouldn’t assume that because someone is Japanese they must be an ISTJ or INFJ.
