Shinbei Fukutomi personality type is INFP, the idealist type.
In the anime, his personality is similar to Haruhi Suzumiya's, but much more laid-back and friendly, especially with other characters such as Tsuruya (whom he treats as an older sister) and Mikuru. He doesn't share Haruhi's obsession with aliens and time travel (and for the same reasons), though he does have a hard time accepting some of Haruhi's inventions. He loves to play video games and is usually seen with a controller in his hands. He is shown to be very smart and logical, often getting the final solution to any complicated problem, and is also shown to be very well educated. The only character that can rival his intelligence is Nagato as they are both geniuses. In the beginning of the series, he is shown to be a little socially awkward, but he quickly becomes more confident after being introduced to Yasumi Kobayashi and Miyano. If there is any character that Tamaki can be compared to, it is Mikuru Asahina. Both are very kind-hearted, intelligent, but also very humble.
